The flame was welcomed with enthusiasm by the community, who accompanied its journey through the city’s main avenues. Regional authorities, outstanding athletes, representatives of sports organizations, students, and teachers all joined this celebration that unites the entire country around sports.
The torch relay was carried out by renowned local athletes, including: Cintia Villalba, Tomás Julián Medina, Froilán Mora, Luis Figueredo, Julio César Winckler, Bibiana Torres, Silvio Arévalos, Gustavo Loreiro, Miguel Barreto, Jorge Aníbal Oviedo, Betsaida Ferreira, Pablo Winckler Quintana, Milagros Luján Arguello, Gabriel Mora Alfonso, Cesia Noemí Ferreira Monges, Álvaro Arguello Rojas, Milena Melgarejo, Matías Yuu Alvarenga, Ronal Acevedo, and the governor of Amambay, Juan Silvino Acosta.
The main ceremony took place at the Government Headquarters, where a heartfelt cultural event was held, featuring folk dance performances and Paraguayan music. Local authorities proudly received the torch, reaffirming the symbolic value of the flame as an emblem of unity and hope.
Notable attendees included Governor Juan Silvino Acosta Benítez, Marcos Coronel representing the National Sports Secretariat, along with other regional authorities and representatives from the sports sector.
With this stop in Amambay, the journey of the Pan American Flame continues across the country, connecting communities and igniting hearts throughout Paraguay, on its way to what promises to be a true continental sports celebration: ASU2025.
