Elegance mixed with technique and intensity—badminton found its medalists on a vibrant final day charged with emotion. Canada dominated the two individual branches, and Brazil did the same in mixed doubles.
The final day began with the mixed doubles match. In a very even contest from the start, the Brazilian team of Davi Carvalho and Juliana Viana handled the pressure better and took the first set against Canada 23-21. The North Americans responded in the second set, winning 21-14 to force a third and final set, where with grit and determination, the South Americans once again prevailed 21-19 to close with a victory and the gold medal.
In singles, Canadian superiority was total, with wins in both branches, leaving no room for doubt. First, in the women’s event, Rachel Chan defeated Brazil’s Juliana Viana in straight sets, 21-12 and 21-16, to claim the gold medal.
Then, in the last game of the day, in the men’s branch, the Canadian Victor Ho-Chun Lei defeated the Brazilian Deivid Carvalho in straight sets, 21-6 and 23-21, to also add his name to the list of gold medalists.
With this, the captivating sport concluded at ASU2025, revealing its champions—young athletes who will surely be on the world stage in the coming years.
