Women’s volleyball wrapped up its second day of action at the COP Arena in the Olympic Park, featuring Group B’s clash between Brazil and Chile, and Group A’s match between Paraguay and Argentina.
In the first evening matchup, Brazil cruised to a 3-0 victory over Chile in a match the Auriazules controlled from start to finish. J. de Andrade led all scorers with 14 points for the winners. Under the guidance of coach Marcos Pinheiro, Brazil displayed dominance and unwavering focus throughout to secure the win.
Closing out the day, Paraguay fell 0-3 to Argentina. Despite the home crowd’s constant support, the Guaraní side couldn’t stop the Albicelestes, who prevailed with authority. Keila Llanos was Argentina’s top scorer with 17 points.
With these results, Brazil and Argentina remain atop their respective groups. In the next round, Paraguay will face Cuba, while Chile will take on Mexico, both seeking their first points in the women’s volleyball tournament at ASU2025.
Earlier in the day, Cuba and Mexico bounced back from their opening defeats, beating Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic, respectively. Those results tightened the standings in both groups, keeping all four teams in contention for a spot in the medal rounds.
