On the different courts of Rakiura, the last day of tennis had medals in each of its matches. Colombia was the big winner of the exciting day with two gold medals. Brazil won the remaining gold medal.
WOMEN’S SINGLES
The final of the women’s branch had Valentina Mediorreal, from Colombia, as the winner, after a match decided in two sets, although with a very even and hard-fought development in each of them. The final result was 7-6, 6-4 over the Argentinian Sol Larraya, silver medalist, of course.
In the game for third place and the bronze medal, the Argentinian Candela Vázquez defeated the Chilean Camila Rodero 7-5, 6-2 to take the last place on the podium in this section.
MEN’S SINGLES
In the men’s individual category, another version of the classic South American final was experienced. The changing and hard-fought match finally favored the Brazilian Joao Pedro Didoni, who defeated the Argentinian Dante Pagani in three sets. The first point of the game was won by the player from Rio de la Plata 6-3, but then, the representative of Brazil adjusted details and won the next two 6-2 and 6-3 to take the gold medal.
The last place on the podium was occupied by the Ecuadorian Emilio Camacho, who defeated the Puerto Rican Yannik Álvarez 6-3, 7-5.
MIXED DOUBLES
In the men’s and women’s team category, the Colombian team stood out again and won the gold medal. The duo consisting of Valentina Mediorreal and Juan Miguel Bolívar defeated their Puerto Rican counterpart, made up of Aurora Lugo and Yannik Álvarez, by a double 6-2.
In this last section, the bronze medal went to Team Paraguay with its duo composed of Alex Núñez and Catalina Delmás. The local favorite defeated the representatives of Argentina, Dante Pagani, and Sofía Meabe in two sets (7-6, 6-2).
Rackets in the bag and let’s pick up the balls. Tennis gave us days full of strong emotions, and now, with its medalists defined, it closes its doors at the ASU2025 Games.
