It was a busy day for the sport, where the talent and bravery of the cyclists were put to the test in a relentless competition. Held at the Velodrome of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, Colombian Luciana Osorio was crowned champion of the women’s category, and her compatriot Nicolás Olivera conquered the men’s sprint, in high-level and emotional finals.
In the women’s Omnium, Colombian Luciana Osorio demonstrated regularity and consistency throughout the four events, accumulating 134 points to secure the gold medal. The silver went to Argentine Julieta Benedetti, who stood out by winning the final event, the Points Race, adding 21 units and closing with 131 points. The bronze was obtained by Chilean Javiera Garrido, with 121 points.
In the men’s sprint, Colombian Nicolás Olivera dominated both heats of the final against Venezuelan Alberto Torres, with minimal differences of +0.092 and +0.086 seconds, taking the gold. The silver went to Torres, while Argentine Alejo Betique came back in the duel for the bronze against Colombian Fernando Jaramillo, winning the third heat by just +0.016 seconds.
Colombia closed the day with a golden double at the Pan American Velodrome, reaffirming its power in Track Cycling at the continental level. Venezuela, Argentina, and Chile also celebrated on the podium, adding medals that could be decisive in the final medal standings.
