The emblem of the Games was received by various local officials; this was the second-to-last stop before its journey through the capital of Asunción, on its way to the Asunción 2025 Junior Pan American Games.
The city of Pilar is located about 230 kilometers from the capital and is known for its natural and historical beauty. It is surrounded by three rivers, which are key to its tourism and cultural importance.
The relay began at the Roberto Cabañas Sports Center, led by Mayor Fernando Ramírez. Throughout the route, young athletes from various educational institutions in the city participated, including José Adrián Zárate, Aldana Acuña, Facundo Rodríguez, Melissa Jiménez, Clara Alarcón, Alvaro Domínguez, Milena Cabrera, María Paz Ferreira, Cecilia Elena López, Liz Paola Riveros, Guillermo Benítez, and Fiorella González. Also joining were Roberto Sosa, Commander of RC2; General Commissioner Pablo Freddy Ortiz, Police Director; Captain Hugo Echeverría, Pilar Zone Prefect; Lic. Doris Zenteno de Bottino, Ñeembucú Supervision Director; Doctora Eleuteria López, Departmental Board; and Blasida Chaparro, First Lady.
The event culminated with an artistic show and speeches by Mayor Fernando Ramírez, along with Dr. Victor Hugo Fornerón Portillo, Departmental Governor. Additionally, those present enjoyed a dance performance with traditional dances and the presence of Tito and Tika, the colorful official mascots of the Games.
The Pan American Flame relay is reaching the final stretch of its journey. On Tuesday, July 22nd, it will be in the Central department, then extending to the next department: Cordillera – Caacupé, concluding its route at the Paraguayan Olympic Committee and the National Sports Secretariat.
COUNTDOWN TO THE ASU2025 JUNIOR PAN AMERICAN GAMES
From August 9th to 23rd, over 4,000 athletes from 41 countries will gather in the Paraguayan capital to compete in 28 sports and 42 disciplines. This event will not only be a great sporting celebration but also a reflection of Paraguay’s commitment to youth and sports development.
