The action began with the men’s category and a South American classic that lit up the stands: Argentina vs. Brazil. The Brazilian duo showed hierarchy and won the pass to the final 0-2, with Jonathan de Menezes as the standout player, scoring 28 points.
As night fell, Venezuela and the United States starred in a high-level battle. The “vinotinto” struck first, but the North American pair, with intelligence, turned the game around and secured their ticket to the final with a 1-2 score in three sets.
In the classification matches (5th to 16th place), Nicaragua defeated Saint Kitts and Nevis 2-0, while Ecuador defeated Bolivia 2-0.
Later in the evening, the women’s semifinals entered the scene with the first final bracket between North American neighbors. The US duo of Portia Sherman and Emma Donley once again showed themselves to be relentless and secured their place in the grand final with a 2-0 win against Canada.
Closing the day and in front of a packed stadium, Venezuela left the host, Paraguay, out with a hard-fought 2-0 that unleashed Venezuelan jubilation.
In the classification matches for better positions, El Salvador took the victory against Guatemala, and Nicaragua did the same against the Dominican Republic.
