The Junior Pan American Games ASU2025 have been offering unforgettable days, and men’s volleyball was no exception. Today, the thousands of fans who packed the stands of the beautiful venue were able to enjoy four high-level matches where young continental prospects showed off all their talent.
GROUP A
On the second day of men’s volleyball in this zone, Mexico got a clear victory against Guatemala with a score of 3–0, setting the tone in the first set which ended 25–11, and the following ones were a little closer: 25–17 in the second and 25–23 in the third. With this win, the Aztec team secured its spot in the semifinals of the continental youth tournament.
Later, in the match that closed the second day, Paraguay fell 3–2 to Colombia and no longer has a chance to advance to the next round. The duel was hard-fought from start to finish with sets that needed more points than usual to determine a winner. In this sense, the first set went to the locals by 32–30, the second and third were for the Colombians (25–20 and 25–19), then the Paraguayans tied the game thanks to a 25–20 in the fourth, and in the decisive set, the Colombians won 18–16.
GROUP B
The second zone of the tournament already has its two qualifiers for the next stage of the competition: Cuba and Brazil.
The first of them got a hard-fought 3–0 victory against the Dominican Republic, with partial scores of 25–23, 25–18, and 25–23. Despite the convincing final score, each set was very tight, forcing the islanders to use every resource to overcome the tough Dominican team.
The second qualifier, Brazil, secured its ticket after defeating Argentina 3–2 in the South American classic; a clash that offered equal forces throughout its development. The Brazilian team managed to win the odd-numbered sets (27–25, 25–14, and 15–12) and the Argentinians won the even ones (19–25 and 22–25) in a match that lasted over two hours.
The group stage closes tomorrow. The only thing left to define is the second qualifying team from Group A, which will come from the match between Colombia and Guatemala.
