The final day of the initial phase of the men’s hockey tournament is over. As a result, the final group standings have been determined, and the teams that will continue to fight for medals have been decided.
GROUP A
The first group was decisively won by Argentina, who showed no mercy to the host team today, defeating them 20-0. The United States qualified in second place, securing their spot in the semifinals after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Brazil in a match full of suspense until the very end.
GROUP B
The development of this group was completely different from the first. All four teams went into the final day tied on points and with a chance to qualify. The spots were decided by victories for Chile and Canada, both by a considerable margin. First, the North Americans defeated Trinidad and Tobago 6-1, and then the South Americans beat Mexico 3-0.
SEMIFINALS ON SATURDAY
The tournament schedule continues on Saturday, August 16, with the semifinals and classification games for the other rankings. That day, in the morning, two matches will be played to define the final standings: Brazil vs. Trinidad and Tobago, and Paraguay vs. Mexico.
Later, as the sun goes down, the semifinals will take place: Argentina will face Chile, and the United States will play against Canada.
