Bicycles took over the historic center of the Paraguayan capital with the endurance and speed race that crowned the continent’s best young cyclists. Every episode of the tough dispute was crucial for the competitors, knowing that the details would end up being decisive in determining the gold medalists in this discipline.
First, this morning, the women’s race took place where, after more than two hours of pedaling, the Argentine Julieta Benedetti won the competition with a time of 02:51:19 and an average speed of 37 km/h. She was joined on the podium by the Ecuadorian Natalie Revelo (silver) and the Colombian Natalia Garzón (bronze).
Afterward, in the men’s race, the Mexican José Antonio Prieto took the gold medal after a spectacular race that was decided by minimal details. The North American stopped the clock at 03:18:34 to take first place and the Pan American title.
