With a day full of adrenaline, emotions, and sportsmanship, the South American Triathlon Qualifier on the road to the Junior Pan American Games ASU2025 was a resounding success at San José Beach in the city of Encarnación. Organized by Local Organizing Committee ASU2025 and the Paraguayan Triathlon Federation, the event left unforgettable moments and crowned new South American champions who now have their eyes set on Asunción.
A Podium That Took Our Breath Away
After hard-fought competition under the Sprint Triathlon format, the best triathletes from the continent proudly stepped onto the podium. Emotion ran high from start to finish, crowning the following athletes:
Men’s Category
🥇 Daniel Ubilla (Chile) –⏳(0:53:20) With an impeccable performance, the Chilean claimed gold, showing complete dominance in every stage of the race, securing his lead during the running leg of the race.
🥈 Caua Diniz (Brazil) –⏳(0:53:29) Just seconds behind, the Brazilian fought for every meter until the very end.
🥉 Thomas Francisco Chica (Ecuador)⏳(0:53:31) – The Ecuadorian completed the podium with a strong physical and mental display.
Women’s Category
🥇 Julia Visgueiro (Brazil) – ⏳(1:01:46) Pulled off a stunning result during the final run to take the lead and with confidence secure gold.
🥈 Rafaela Capó (Chile) – ⏳(1:02:21) Sticking to her strategy, lead both the swimming and cycling race to take second place.
🥉 María Emilia Vargas (Argentina) –⏳(0:53:31) The young Argentine surprised everyone with a spectacular comeback.
South America made its presence felt
A total of 69 athletes from 12 countries took part in the event: Argentina, Aruba, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Grenada, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela. The competition, held in Sprint format (750 meters of swimming, 20 km of cycling, and 5 km of running), pushed every participant to their limits in a breathtaking natural setting.
San José Beach: A Stage That Already Feels Like ASU2025
Encarnación, the jewel of south of Paraguay, was the epicenter of this qualifier, serving as a preview of what ‘s to come at the ASU2025 Games.
San José Beach will host the Triathlon, Open Water Swimming, and Sailing events, establishing itself as a key location for these Games. With its wide-open spaces, tourist infrastructure, and strategic location on the Paraná River, Encarnación strengthens its role on the regional sports map.
The Countdown to ASU2025 Is On
From August 9 to 23, Paraguay will host the Junior Pan American Games ASU2025, bringing together more than 4,000 athletes from across the continent. This event will not only be a celebration of sports but also a platform to highlight the talent, youth, and unity of the Americas.
