The oval-ball sport celebrated a very busy day with many matches in which the qualified teams for the next phase were defined in both branches of this sport. In that sense, in both tournaments, the participants were divided into two groups in their initial phase.
In the men’s category, Group A was made up of Argentina, Paraguay, Bermuda, and Trinidad and Tobago. The qualifiers for the semifinals were the two South Americans with the “rioplatenses” as leaders and the locals as second.
In the other zone, Group B, the representatives from the south of the American continent also prevailed. Uruguay and Chile obtained the ticket to the semifinals after leaving Jamaica and Mexico behind.
Moving on to the women’s branch, the north of the continent showed its claws and managed to place two teams from its sector in the semifinals: Canada and the United States. From South America, Brazil and Argentina reached the other phase.
To break down the development of the initial phase, from Group A, Canada and Argentina qualified, and Colombia and Jamaica were left out. While from Group B, the United States and Brazil managed to advance, leaving the teams from Paraguay and Mexico behind.
Tomorrow will be the definitive day for Rugby 7 at ASU2025. In the morning, the semifinals will be played and, with the sun about to set, the exciting finals.
