In the men’s 79kg category, the Cuban Emanuel De la Rosa was the big winner of the gold medal after managing to lift 130kg, 135kg, and 140kg in the snatch, in the clean and jerk he managed 160kg and 170kg, but failed at 180kg. These results were enough to be crowned the best athlete in the competition in his branch. Following the Cuban, we have the silver medalist, Benjamin Turner; the Argentinian managed to lift 121kg, 126kg, and 130kg in the snatch, and in the clean and jerk, he had a result of 147kg, 154kg, and 160kg, thus achieving second place. And to finish the podium, the Peruvian Hidver Silva managed to lift 112kg in the snatch and 145kg, 149kg in the clean and jerk, earning a bronze medal for these results.
Next, the women’s 63kg category gave us the Ecuadorian Jessica Palacios as the winner; the 19-year-old athlete managed to dominate the 93kg, 97kg, and 100kg in the snatch, added to the 117kg and 122kg in the clean and jerk, which gave her the gold medal in this category. As the silver medalist, the Argentinian María Paz Casadevall managed to dominate the 88kg and 91kg in the snatch, along with the 114kg, 118kg, 120kg in the clean and jerk to place herself in 2nd place. Closing the podium, the Venezuelan Diana Bellorin gave us results of 89kg and 92kg in the snatch, and 112kg, 116kg in the clean and jerk, earning the bronze medal.
In the last category contested on Thursday, the men’s 88kg, the Venezuelan Angel Rodríguez got the coveted golden medal after surpassing the 155kg and 161kg in the snatch, and the 188kg and 192kg in the clean and jerk. The silver medal went to the Colombian Hainner Córdoba, who dominated the 150kg and 155kg in the snatch, and 180kg, 188kg in the clean and jerk. Finally, the 3rd place was for the American Ryan McDonald after surpassing the 142kg and 146kg in the snatch, plus the 177kg and 182kg in the clean and jerk.
