First, the South American team made up of Juan José Torres, Juan Irisarri, and José Santamaría, flawlessly defeated Argentina 2-0. In the first game, Torres did the same against Segundo Portabales 3-2 with partial scores of 11-7, 8-11, 7-11, 11-4, and 11-4. Then, Irisarri overcame Francisco Alfonso 3-1 (8-11, 14-12, 11-5, and 11-5) to complete the task and win the gold medal.
In the women’s branch, an identical score was achieved, but with different protagonists. Mexico, with the participation of Mariana Narváez, Ana Botello, and Paola Franco, beat Ecuador 2-0. The final series began with Narváez’s success over María Emilia Falconí 3-0, with partial scores of 11-8, 14-12, and 11-7. Afterwards, Botello defeated Rafaela García 3-1, 11-8, 11-8, 7-11, and 11-4, to finish the job and take home the gold.
