In the women’s 50-meter freestyle, the Brazilian Stephanie Balduccini and the Colombian Isabella Bedoya recorded an identical time of 25.42, resulting in a tie for the gold medal.
In the men’s category of the same event, the Brazilian swimmer Guilherme Caribe broke the continental record with a time of 21.72 to win the gold. Lamar Taylor from the Bahamas won silver, and Nikoli Blackman from Trinidad and Tobago took the bronze.
The 400-meter individual medley also saw new records. Agostina Hein from Argentina won gold in the women’s event with a record time of 4.38.41, followed by her compatriot Magdalena Portela with silver and the Brazilian Agatha Amaral with bronze. In the men’s event, the Brazilian Stephan Steverink set a new mark of 4.16.06 to win gold. His compatriot Guilherme Gustavo Kanzler won silver, and the Mexican Maximiliano Vega took the bronze.
Finally, Brazil demonstrated its dominance in the 4×200-meter freestyle relays, winning gold in both the women’s category (with Argentina taking silver and Colombia bronze) and the men’s (with Mexico taking silver and Chile bronze).
