Under the intense sun and braving the cold wind, the players completed another day of competition, this time for the second round.
GROUP B
First, in the morning match that opened the day, Mexico bounced back from their debut loss and soundly defeated Guyana with a final score of 9-1. The game was only truly decided in the third quarter, as just two goals separated the teams after the first two periods.
Immediately after, the United States won again, making them the sole leader of their group. Their victory was a 4-0 win over Chile, with two goals scored at the start of the match and another two at the end.
GROUP A
Later in the afternoon, in the second round of the day, Argentina showcased their power in a battle of undefeated teams, beating Canada with a convincing 6-0 score. The “Leoncitas” set the pace from the beginning and maintained control throughout the entire match.
In the last game of the day, Uruguay recovered from their previous stumble and overcame Paraguay in a tough match with a narrow score of 2-0. Two goals in the second quarter were enough to secure the “charrúas” their first win of the tournament.
After a rest day, tomorrow, the young hockey players will return to play on Saturday for the final day of the group stage.
