The first zone of the tournament is made up of Mexico, Colombia, Paraguay, and Guatemala. In the first match, which opened the sport within the continental competition, the Aztec team worked the match to beat their Colombian counterpart 3-1, with partials of 18-25, 25-18, 25-23, and 26-24.
Then, in the night shift, Paraguay did not manage to make the home court advantage count and was defeated by the disciplined team from Guatemala with a score of 3-1; the sets ended 26-24, 25-25, 20-25, and 25-19.
GROUP B
In the other zone of the competition, Cuba and Argentina faced each other first in the afternoon shift. The victory went to the South Americans with a tight score of 3-2 (25-21, 26-24, 21-25, 23-25, and 16-14).
In the other match of this group, Brazil won with authority and forcefulness against the Dominican Republic by 3-0, with partials of 25-20, 25-17, and 25-23. The South Americans showed a lot of problem-solving capacity and knew how to close each set well.
